Summary
This is unfair. Everything is unfair, and it makes him angry, and Monoco fights his mentor every single time about it, and it makes him angry, and it’s just-
He knows that Noco spends time with the impostor. He knows that they even call each other friends.
He calls it betrayal.
Noco ignores it.
For a while. For a few years. Until his patience runs out.
Or: the "Noco tied us together for a month, and now we're best friends" incident.

Summary
Verso is lying on the stone floor, almost indistinguishable from the broken bodies around him. Monoco flies down to him from a balcony; his feet hit the floor as he returns to his usual gestral self.
He thinks the landing was very graceful. Deserving of applause, even.
Verso doesn’t even try to look at him, missing the whole performance, and this is even more frustrating.
And… concerning.
Or: Verso is lost on Sirène’s island. Thankfully, Monoco is always able to find him.

Summary
“Just- don’t say anything,” Verso asks resignedly, avoiding his gaze. “It hurts like hell and I really need your help. I can’t comb through the whole battlefield with only one working arm and I’d really like to stop feeling the damn Nevron fighting the other Nevrons with my limb.”
He looks like he is on the brink of tears.
Or: a Ramasseur has stolen something important. Monoco helps his human friend and makes sure it won't happen again.

Summary
Monoco sighs. There are no marks on his body, of course, but he can see — the bloodstains on the ropes, the long-burned campfire with an iron rod lying in it. The gag, not compatible with a real interrogation. Most importantly — Verso’s evasiveness; barely hidden fear in the pale eyes that refuse to look up.
“Questions”. Sure.
He finishes with most of the ropes, feeling relief that it’s almost over — and stops, trying to comprehend what he is looking at.
Or: Monoco finds Verso after a rough encounter with an expedition. Freeing him turns out to be more complicated than any of them was ready for.

Summary
Verso gulps. Monoco can see his throat working — his thin, ridiculously fragile human throat, too easy to squish and too easy to damage.
“I need you to tie me up,” he repeats — voice firmer, more desperate. “And hurt me. Make me feel pain. Make me feel… helpless.”
Monoco can't not notice the shiver that runs through him when he says it. Not an excited one, not something brought by the adrenaline before the fight — pure terror.
Monoco sees it in his eyes, dimmed with exhaustion.
Or: "I used to have horrible dreams. But somehow, it was worse when they stopped. Now it’s just this… oppressive void."

Summary
It happens too fast.
A moment ago everything was well, and the expedition — brave, good people, believing in their duty and their oath — was moving through the half-frozen caves, lighting the way with their chroma lamps. Monoco and Noco followed, arguing about who is the best Searcher between them two, and Verso — being in surprisingly good mood, Verso was walking beside them, teasing them both and purposefully adding fuel to the fire. Noco, the wise old man that he was, only laughed at his little jabs; Monoco, to their utter delight, was getting more and more agitated.
Everything was well.
He should have known that “well” never lasts.
Or: Old Noco does something reckless. Neither Monoco nor Verso take it too well.
