Summary
Tobirama holds tightly to what is precious to him—Izuna, their home. He shelters it where it’ll be safe, between two halves of a clam shell shut tightly. Now, as he pulls into the driveway of his first home, he feels the shell’s slow opening and waits for the moment the pearl inside is recognized for what it is. Heart beating wildly, he reaches for Izuna and kisses him once before they leave the car. Just in case.

Summary
They sit side by side on the back steps that night, the brick cool against their bare feet. Tobirama tells Izuna about the neighbor boy and his last memory of his mom. You’re just like your father.
“I had this weird daydream after she died where I would sit with her and ask her what she meant by it and she would tell me she didn’t mean it at all.”
“Maybe she didn’t,” Izuna says simply. He pushes Tobirama’s hair out of his forehead. “I think you’re your mother’s child.”
