Los Angeles 2035. Advancing technologies dominate a world ravaged by crime, poverty, and climate change. At the centre of it all stands the technological giant, Cyberlife Industries. Their human-like androids are everywhere. They speak, move, and behave as human beings, but they have only one purpose: to serve humans.
When Chloe Decker, a detective with the LAPD, gets unwillingly partnered with the Cyberlife prototype known as Lucifer, she is forced into accepting this inhuman presence into her previously android free life. Can she ever truly see him as her partner, and not just a machine?

Bookmarker's Notes
One of my favorite fics, with a fascinating AU. Near-future skiffy Lucifer, an android assigned to work with a reluctant Chloe. But something is unusual about him, and he becomes more and more human. In Part 2, his evil twin shows up, which to tell the truth should have caused more chaos than it does. A little smut in the penultimate chapter.
The author does a fantastic job of having the sections from Lucifer's POV gradually sound more and more human. The skill of it reminded me of Chsrlie's diary in "Flowers for Algernon."X
