“Look at me and tell me who you are.” A large hand grabbed the back of her neck, carefully avoiding her throat, with a thumb coming under her chin forcing her head up. She opened her eyes, prepared to see any sort of monster and instead was stunned.
The most gorgeous black-haired Illyrian male stood in front of her staring at her with a hazel eyed glare. His wings were the biggest she had ever seen, somehow dwarfing her even more, and seven blue, no cobalt, glowing stones adorned his chest and arms. Peaking out from his cloaked armor were tan strong arms, shadows swirling up them towards where his hand connected with her jaw. Her eyes flickered down, unable to hold the intense stare.
“You changed your boots.” She looked back up at him simply and his jaw tensed in frustration.
“They made them messy.” He glowered and she knew he meant the soldiers. “I would hate for these to get messy too, so I will ask again. Who are you.”

Nesta, Gwyn, and Emerie haven’t been the same since the Rite. They all deal with traumas in their own self-destructive ways, and they’re okay with that. After all, healing isn’t linear. As long as they take it day by day and remember to breathe once in a while, life will be fine. Not good, not great, but fine.
The problem is, Cassian, Azriel, and Rhys have noticed. They’re painfully aware that the Valkyrie’s recovery after the Rite echoes their own, almost to a fault. And they've never been good at keeping to themselves - even if the Valkyries insist they don't need help.
