Summary
Freedom wasn't the end of the story.
For Steve Rogers and Bucky Barnes, 'happily ever after' didn't come with Bucky's exoneration. Instead, they were greeted by uncertainty, and fear; unemployment, and the heavy, hanging knowledge that the skeleton had been ripped from their relationship. There were no longer any rules, boundaries, or guidelines, and it was tearing Bucky apart. After a lifetime of captivity, and subjugation, Bucky had no concept of how to function without a figure of control over him, a figure Steve refused to be.
Suddenly, it was no longer just them against the world.
Suddenly, they had to face something even more terrifying.
The realization that maybe, they didn't know each other at all.
