"But I want more, Lex." Clark did one of his tricks, appearing on the couch beside him in less than an eyeblink. The heat of his thigh was like Proust's madelines, ripping him back to a time when they'd sat like this on the ratty couch in the Kent's barn, or on the long leather couch in front of the big TV in the castle, closer than necessary. Waiting for the moment Lex had finally begun to think was inevitable, when they'd turn their heads at the same time, each one's eyes dropping to the other's mouth, pupils dilating, breath hot and moist. Waiting for the first kiss and, inevitably, waiting for the last.
The grating sound of the brocade against their bodies reminded Lex that this wasn't Smallville, and that Clark had always known intuitively what would get him what he wanted from Lex.
"Fuck you," he said roughly, though the last syllable was said directly into Clark's mouth. Clark's hand was on his chin, holding him in place, while his mouth yielded like the Maginot Line. He couldn't move his arms -- he couldn't feel his arms -- and only his mouth was immune from the sticky paralysis Clark's touch brought like poison.

She is Fedaykin. Committing is what they do, is their way of things. She is committed to the fight for Fremen freedom above all else, but she is committed to Paul now, too, and she defends him to the others when they doubt him. It is not so hard to do, at the start.
He is both clever and humble. He obeys Stilgar unquestioningly, and looks to Chani before any decision, deferring to her experience in every opportunity. He knows things about the Harkonnen tactics and machinery that they have never had insight into. He teaches them battle tactics that are different to the guerrilla warfare they have made into an art.
He says such romantic things. I would very much like to be equal to you, Chani.
Or, then I die, and you might too, but the others will keep going and won't stop until the Fremen are free. Chani is a creature of both passion and determination. She believes in what she fights for. She is Fedaykin; the fight for freedom is her whole life. The first time Paul commits himself so fully to the resistance is the first time she truly allows herself to feel the entirety of her attraction to him, which is a commitment in itself.
