James McGonagall never asked to be a mutant and he certainly never wanted to be a leader, but as his good friend Remy LeBeau would tell him, that’s just what the cards have dealt him. He is known as Gatekeeper due to the fact that his mutant ability was creating portals. He could create portals to other places on earth or to a pocket dimension. He grew up on the streets, never really remembering what happened to his parents. He’s traveled across much of North America during his youth and he has seen all manner of discrimination against mutantkind. He doesn’t really know what he believes in anymore and he definitely doesn’t know if he agrees with Charles Xavier’s plan for humans and mutant peace and harmony, that doesn’t mean he agrees with Erik Lehnsherr’s plan to wipe out humanity. But we re getting ahead of ourselves and should start the story at the very beginning.
