“I recall that being quite a pleasurable experience... You tend to send a tangle of mixed messages when my mouth is on you, and your cries to stop sound quite similar to ones of you begging me not too…What else could I do except weigh the options of our imminent deaths against the sounds you make when I am finishing you off?” Will’s breath hitched. “I was rather pleased and somewhat grateful you managed not to take us off yet another cliff, however.”
“I thought you enjoyed learning new things…” A mouth brushed the nape of his neck.
“And the last time you said that…”
“Yes?”
“It was in the guise of a fishing trip, and when you realized that I in fact, did not mean fishing in a metaphorical sense, you broke my perfectly good fishing pole by tangling the lure and snapping it in half just to rid me of clothes.”

Peter is a bit of a smart-ass with rough edges, a troubled home life, but a good heart of course. And Tony is really really bad at dealing with emotions, but Pepper has his back.

Why must he behave as though the old grammar between them has been stripped away and replaced with something frail and brittle? Does he not remember? And if he does not—would that be kinder, less acerbic, than the thought of being played with? Doom does not truly believe the boy possesses that cruelty, that rigor, and so forgetting remains the only explanation left to him. It is a foul one. It spoils in the mouth, a disappointment so thorough it aches. All of him is disappointing. Down to the healthy gleam of his hair and the lack of wrinkles around his not quite bright enough eyes.

Victor is the one who must hurry. Before a blink turns the boy into the figure crowned in gold, before he imagines dark paint smeared over thin lips, softened now, untainted, and hers still.
