Summary
Most everyone has soul mates, that was just how it was. It was an accepted fact. The marks, the words that spotted your skin, that's how you knew who the right person was. They would seem like unorganized scrawls to most people, but to the one who owned them, they were the most meaningful things in the world. t was almost like playing detective, trying to find your soul mate, that is. You never know who they were. Of all the things that could be written on a person, a name was never one.
Bucky never had to search. He just walked down the road and there his soul mate was, as if waiting for him to find him.

Mentioned in a few conversations between Steve and Bucky during Winter is Coming, this is a side-fic that takes place entire during world war ii, after Bucky's time in the prison camp after the battle of Azzano...
After receiving intelligence on French scientists being taken prisoner around Nazi-occupied France, the Howling Commandos go in to rescue the scientists/spies, while Bucky is sent into the heart of enemy territory to extract their informant. He doesn't have much to go on, and the entire mission is threatened when he becomes involved with a beautiful French courtesan.

Summary
Steve is a knight whose brothers-in-arms have been turned into swans by the fae in retaliation of a perceived slight. In order to undo the curse, Steve must take a vow of silence for six years; during which time, he must sew six shirts made of stinging nettles for his enchanted men to wear. Should he fail to do either, he will permanently turn into a swan himself. Steve agrees to the terms, locking himself away in a shack in the forest to complete his task.
Over five years into his self-imposed solitude, Steve saves the prince of their lands from bandits who descend on the royal carriage on its way the summer palace and is invited to join his retinue of body guards. He doesn’t anticipate falling in love with the prince, nor that the prince would return his affections. But their happiness is short-lived when Steve is accused of high treason, and he cannot say a word in his own defense.

The List was compiled by the long-suffering Colonel Phillips, who should have been more thankful that Steven Grant Rogers was the lone Super Soldier from Erskine's Project Rebirth. Add in Sgt. Bucky Barnes and the Howling Commandos and it was a sheer miracle that Phillips managed to make it through the war with his sanity relatively intact. Mostly. Sort of.
He's still not going to accept a teddy bear as a Corporal in his own regiment. God damn it!
