Between new cases, caring for Husks, the relentless summer crowds pouring into the tea shop that seem to never end, and adjusting to his new life as a new Reaper, Wallace wonders how he, Mei, and Hugo will pull through. Especially Hugo.
After a peculiar visit from a shop owner in a peculiar city far away, the three are offered the chance to spend some time away. But what was supposed to be a time spent purely for relaxation and reflection has its misadventures. And should the trio wish to see Charon’s Crossing again, Wallace finds himself having to put both his past talents as a fearsome attorney and his current newfound skills as a Reaper to use.

Hello! This is an alternate ending so if you have not finished the book definitely don't read this. Also Don't read the next part either.
I thought that this book was going to rip our hearts out a little bit more. In this alternate ending Wallace goes through the door. The rest is short snippets of Hugo's life after the fact as I summarize how I thought the ending would go. This is my very first story on ao3 so please be kind. I am not a writer I did this for fun. So if anyone wants to take this idea and run with it or add more to it, have a blast. Just please give me credit in some way if you do, because I'm sure there are many who could write this better.
Either way, I hope you enjoy this short little ending.
