Summary
Dan Howell is a sixth form student desperately trying to get through his A-Levels. But he loses his geography textbook, and nobody has a spare, so he has to, against his will, head to the local library to borrow one. There, he strikes up a friendship with one of the library's part time assistants, Phil, who he shares a lot in common with, from slightly too long emo hair to a specific appreciation for Mario Kart. But Dan is conflicted by his new, unfamiliar feelings for Phil, and he's terrified of how it could affect their friendship...
basically a slowish burn 2009 phan au where phil works in a library and dan goes to said library and then they become friends and then fall into it hard and fast and become partners in everything, inevitably.

“You’re Zach’s favorite narrator,” Mr. Phil smiled. “He’s your biggest fan.”
Dan looked down at Zach who was still staring at him in awe and he couldn’t help but believe Phil’s claim. He cocked an eyebrow. “I’m pretty sure everything I read was outside of his reading level.”
“Didn’t matter to him,” Phil shrugged. “His favorite is Moby Dick.”
Dan laughed. “Well, you’ve also met your biggest fan. Rose hardly ever stops talking about you.” Rose let out a sharp little yelp and hid her face in Dan’s hip.
Phil smiled gently at her and knelt to talk to her. “It was very nice to meet you, Rose.”

When Dan and Phil keep bumping into each other, they eventually give in to chance and start talking. Soon enough, Dan makes a home at the library Phil works at, and they talk about nothing and everything so often that there is no going back. The two survive the future just fine, until they learn the flaws of leaning the weight of your existence on someone else’s shoulders.
