Summary
"Rook, stop! You don't know what you're—" Morrigan's voice echos around her before the world becomes deafeningly quiet instead.
Now well and truly alone, Elara puts her half-concocted plan into action, sinking to her knees and closing her eyes. She has no idea if it will work, has no idea the consequences if it does, but the odds have never been enough to deter her before and they sure as hell won't be enough now.
You don't know when to quit, do you, Rook?
Lost in grief and desperation after losing her entire team, Elara unintentionally thrusts herself back to the days of the Inquisition in one last attempt to fix it all. It's one hell of a second chance, as long she doesn't ruin it just like she's ruined everything else she touches.

Solas knew very little about the woman who bore his mark except she was beautiful and a compelling mystery.
The green glow lit the small cell. The magic on her hand never fully subsided, but when it spit green fire the woman grew restless. He felt a connection to her that the presence of the mark did not explain. Solas almost did not want her to wake up.
The moment he interacted with her, she was bound to disappoint, failing to live up to any of his imaginings. As if to mock this sentiment, the elf stirred. She opened her eyes to reveal bright green eyes. Solas caught his breath, transfixed.
She said accusingly, “Is this another trick? You think I can't escape from your prison, Solas?”
The breath froze in his chest and everything stopped.
She knew him.
Solas had no memory of her.
--
Both Rook and Solas travel back in time to the beginning of the Inquisition. From the beginning, Solas senses a bond linking him to Rook. This changes everything. Not a strict retelling.
Heavy emphasis on Rook and Solas's relationship. Anyone else notice the tension between Cassandra and Varric?
Expect plenty of party banter as well.

Summary
Fussing with his shirt sleeve, he strode over and pushed the second door open, but stopped short at the threshold when his eyes went wide as they fell upon her standing before an ornate mirror. Even his fingers froze at the sight of her in such regalia, so much so that his cufflink clattered to the floor.
Maribel turned her head at the sound, her eyes falling to the dropped accessory. Then they flicked back up to his, and she turned fully. He would have dropped the cufflink all over again had he bothered to pick it up.
“Maker,” he breathed out, too much air escaping his lungs, like she’d walked over and taken a knee to his gut instead of only standing before him, draped in the trappings of her own new office. As Rook struggles with the enormity of her new role, Lucanis can't help but be amazed. Then he supports her the best way he knows how.

It was a casual, nothing of a smile, but it was warm and human and, after a year of nothing but cold eyes and cruel hands, it threatened something load-bearing in his heart.
Spite rattled in his bones as he dropped his gaze.
Lightning and Lavender oil. Hearth smoke and Honey.
Mierda, Spite. A demon in my head I can handle, but an amateur poet? That might kill me.

Our gods are dead, but one remains.
Our dreams are broken, but so are our chains.
Our spirit is crushed, but still we persist. It’s the end of an era.
In Tevinter, we are tearing down the Archon’s Palace from the sky.
In Antiva, we are painting the streets red with Antaam blood.
Somewhere out at sea, the destinies of two Crows are tied together by a demon, and the walls of the Black City are breached from within. It’s the dawn of a new age.
*
He was coming for her, to punish her for betraying him, for letting him believe she was someone worthy of his time, his trust, his affection. He was coming to kill her.
And she was going to let him.
All this time, she had thought of herself as someone who had lost the ability to feel anything beyond loss, bitterness and regret. But without even realizing it, she had stopped hurting—bit by bit—and started aching. For him. Before him, she was utterly defenseless. He could have stabbed her, and she would have leaned into the blade just to be closer to him.
But he didn’t. Instead, he wrapped his arms tightly around her and pulled her against his chest.
“I thought I’d never see you again,” he let out a strangled cry.

Summary
Solara’s curiosity was something nurtured with great care when she lived in Skyhold. Dorian’s lessons, Sera’s schemes, Blackwall’s excursions, Varric’s tales, Cole’s whimsy, Harding’s wanderlust… everyone played a role in what culminated into the young woman standing before the Grey Warden. She held the hurt of a millennia of tormented elves in her bones, the blood of a rebel god in her veins, and an entire Inquisition’s greatest joys and sorrows in her heart.
This is the prequel to my Rook/Lucanis Dragon Age the Veilguard fanfic! The dates have been changed to account for Rook's age, so the timeline looks like this:
- Inquisition: 9:41
- Trespasser: 9:43
- Veilguard: ~9:69-70
Two Rooks and a King is a series co-created by two friends who played Veilguard side by side in a Discord voice chat and thought, "Okay but what if there were TWO Rooks, and they were SISTERS?"
Smut chapters will be marked with an asterisk*, and content warnings will be noted in the beginning notes when needed.

“Back in Treviso, we’ve got a circus: fire-breathers, sword swallowers… and the occasional assassination. Makes for a lively evening.”
“The performers… kill people?” Rook tossed over his shoulder, puzzled.
“A Crow Circus,” Lucanis said, as if that were self-explanatory. And maybe it was. “Front-row seats, if you’re interested.”(Or: Rook and Lucanis are bullying Minrathous templars and having a clown fiesta.)

That is, until she brings his presumed-dead cousin back to Treviso, and soon becomes the thorn in his side...

Summary
In a freak twist of fate, after killing Ghilan’nain and unleashing a lethal amount of magic, Rook does not find herself in the Prison of Regrets. Instead, the magic creates a pseudo-rift and spits her out the other side.
Stuck in the past, she has several options but only one real conclusion: the Inquisition had done fine the first time. They certainly didn’t need her assistance. The fate of the Veil still hung in the balance, and she had vowed to keep it there by any means necessary. Solas had been helpful up to this point, but she’d known he was plotting—scheming to escape his prison.
He had used blood magic on her. He’d hurt Varric. He’d cheerfully kill her given half a chance. This younger version hasn’t done anything yet… and doesn’t know to be wary of her. Rook wasn’t above using him, and then killing him with his back turned.
What was the Dalish saying? May the Dread Wolf take you? Not if Rook took him first.

Summary
Every story’s got an ending. This one just came a little earlier than I’d planned.
Rook wonders if Solas feels the same way as the Dread Wolf’s closes — as his new one with Ellana Lavellan cracks open to its first page.
It was a good ending — a poetic ending — the Inquisitor taming an impossibly ancient grief to walk hand in hand with her lover into the Fade.
Forever bound together; forever sharing the love they’d built between them — unshakable and iron willed and impossible to break in spite of the decade that hung between their last meeting and the flare of green that accompanies their dematerialization.
It was nice, and it was peaceful, and Rook has been left standing in the ashes of a blighted Minrathous — broken, bleeding, and bitter.
In the moments following the defeat of Elgar'nan and the redemption of the Dread Wolf, Rook is dragged into another unwanted, unpredictable magical shit show. After being given a vague order and an even vaguer plan, he's thrown into the past — much further than anticipated.
A time travel fix-it fic written by an author obsessed with dashes and italics.
