That was the last time he saw Merlin. Those were the last words he’d spoken to him before Merlin disappeared from almost everybody’s lives.The world collapsed around him anew when Gaius told him neither Merlin nor Lancelot had been seen or returned since leaving through the front gates of Camelot on horseback.
Gwaine never came home.
It was six months later they found them.

Someone rounds the corner, stepping from kitchen to living room, wearing slim jeans and a white shirt, both of which are now stained with red wine. The someone is tall and fit and unbelievably familiar, shiny golden hair mussed up fashionably and pretty pink lips set in a delectable scowl.
Holy fucking shit, Merlin thinks, it’s him.
“It’s you!” Arthur gasps rather theatrically, pointing at Merlin as though everyone in the room doesn’t already know who he’s talking about.
Or: Merlin gets his own hashtag on Twitter. Don't ask him how, he doesn't know. All he knows is that Arthur is out of his league, and Gwen is the best friend in the universe.

The fucking merthur. All the other group dynamics as well. Leon the long suffering (at the hands of merthur). “would you PLEASE flirt LATER.” Everyone clowning on uther (even freya the angel that she is). Morgana’s redemption (and mordred too but I don’t like him). Them all listening to merthur confession and betting on it has extended my life. Omg THE PROPOSAL. Lance and gwen were so fkn adorable. AND GWAINE AND PERCIVAL. I may have also begun to… not-dislike… morgana and leon together. would I read about those two on purpose? No, but they were cute here. Morgana and arthur hug. “Merlin’s perky little ass” being a common curse(?) throughout is fucking hilarious. MERLIN IS DORIAN GRAY?? Wait also the drunk pushups with arthur on merlins back.

Arthur’s hands didn’t wait for his own permission once they had Merlin’s, and they began instantly the essential work of memorizing the feel of Merlin’s body changed. He didn’t fight the magnetism that drew him first to trace the long line that drew all the way across Merlin’s ribcage before running flattened palms up over the straight lines and hard muscle of his chest.
“Sorry you didn’t get to say goodbye,” Merlin quipped, and though his voice was still quiet and shaky, it almost sounded like he had managed a joke.
