She opens her mouth to speak, and then Dalteli tries forcing the door open with all the grace of a lumbering crocodile. It jostles loudly, the sound of a strong lock keeping it shut. Both Shadowheart and Tavara share a knowing look as Dalteli’s attempt at opening it turns into a firm fist banging against the door.
“You won’t get that open easily. Maybe there’s another entrance,” Shadowheart says.
And Tavara chirps up for support.
“Or we can try to pick the lock?”
Dalteli stops punching only to turn around and punch air at Tavara.
“Do you see anything useful here?” she spits.

Tavara Sunsong of Neverwinter and Dalteli of wherever the fuck find themselves somehow alive on a ravaged beach with an illithid parasite and enough tension to cut through with a knife. Unsure of what the future may hold, they know only one thing: these worms have got to go.

It's a harsh winter, and fire would be welcome to some.

The throbbing pain shoots from the top of her head to the bottom of her feet is the first sign of life. A raspy gasp escapes her bloody mouth before her broken sobs of pain begin. There is a blinding light above her, the sun. The freezing cold and the lack of, well anything is the clear sign that she’s still stuck at the bottom of the trench.
Her head is throbbing even worse, the ground beneath her is solid ice making her fall worse. There is something in her hair, most definitely blood or snow. She heaves for air, lungs once again moving with her racing heart pumping blood.

A DnD 5e warlock gets pulled into Twisted Wonderland and has to come to terms with modern technology, high school education, and a magic system that seems to be entirely monopolized by sorcerers. There is no attaining magic through force of will, faith, or pact: so according to the Dark Mirror, Esher has none. But that’s Ok, she’s used to keeping it on the down-low. It’s not like warlocks are warmly welcomed back home. Her Patron finds it amusing either way.

Summary
The Dark Urge is stoic, apathetic, manipulative, a brutal tactician, the leader of a ragtag group of adventurers, and... literally a teenager. The effectiveness with which they mask that fact is mixed at best. They're pretty good at hiding things though, including the violent urges that plague them and the curse in place to punish them for it. At least, they're good at hiding things until the pot boils over and everything goes wrong. Repression doesn't actually work out, it seems, but hopefully their companions will be there for them when all their secrets are laid bare and they find themself at their lowest point.
The fic pretty closely follows the canon plot points up until the other shoe drops. I'm a homebrewer at heart and it shows in the fic, particularly the way I throw out and reshape canon for a lot of things pertaining to the Dark Urge's backstory in order to justify and suit them being a teenager. Also, obviously, I added my own little twist with the aforementioned curse put on them.
