Summary
In a relatively peaceful Bohemia, Skalitz prospers. After Martin's death and the truth of his parentage coming out, Henry becomes master huntsman for Radzig, a job and a social status that put him on the edge. Of town, and its community. Luckily he still has his Ma, his dog and his horse.
He may also soon have a new Problem in the form of Hans Capon, mysteriously exiled from Rattay, and surviving on poaching.
With a complicated situation comes a creative solution: for punishment, Hans is condemned to serve as Henry's right hand man in all his endeavours. Surely the forced proximity and both boys' feeling of isolation and othernness can only lead to a normal friendship. -

Summary
Hans Capon knows that to be a true knight, he must fell a malevolent dragon. Every knight in the books he has read as a child has had this one common trait. If Hans can fell his own beast of hell, maybe then Hanush would see that he is fit to be the Lord of Rattay, a title dangled so teasingly in front of him. Dragons, however, are rare. There hasn’t been a sighting of one in such a long time that Hans is slowly beginning to lose hope.
That is until one day a mysterious old crone comes to the castle, demanding an audience with Hanush and Hans. She exclaims that a dragon has returned, last seen haunting the woods near the ruins of Skalitz. Hans finally gets his chance, jumping at the bit to prove to Hanush that he is knight worthy of the title Lord of Leipa. Reluctantly, Hanush lets Hans take a small retinue of the most skill combatants to go and slay the dragon.
Hans is simply not prepared for what this dragon actually is.

Чи не єдиний, з ким він зміг про це поговорити, майже відверто, майже не відкриваючи ці рани знову, був пан Птачек. Спочатку це було важко уявити обом, Індро був певен, але у молодого пана якимось дивним чином, точно не своєю гарною поведінкою, вдалося випитати в Індро його історію. І чомусь цього разу хлопець почував себе спустошеним, але це відчуття не додало нового болю, а навпаки дало хоча б короткострокове полегшення, оніміння тих оголених нервів, що ніяк не могли заспокоїтись. -
