Summary
Charles and Joe are shapeshifters. They, at will, can transform into wolves or like creatures, due to ‘New Magic’ that was bestowed upon them by Abner Brown. Abner, an occultist & jewel thief who sought to get his hands on the ‘Old Magic’, a more powerful kind of magic that allows the user to manipulate reality. New magic is powerful, but is trivial. Abner was defeated a year before now, drowning in a sluice gate after attempting to steal old magic from a magician. Charles, Joe and Sylvia (Pouncer) were Abner’s henchmen, but defected against him for their own benefits, stealing his vast sums of wealth for themselves. Charles, Joe, and Pouncer all took their separate ways, with Charles and Joe, being best friends, meet occasionally. Pouncer and Charles have been in a situationship for a while now since Abner died, but it’s tenuous and nothing of serious note. Joe has been copiously bored, and feels life is going nowhere, his friend Charles being the only notable joy in his life. Joe feels remorse for his time as a henchman, but struggles with the inherent evil that comes with the magic he takes for granted. Now, they all meet at Pouncer's new estate in the bowels of the country for adventure unknown.
