Steve stands up at his primo table in the middle of the Water Library’s main dining room to greet Bucky.
“Steve,” Bucky says, his voice a little breathless. As Bucky approaches, Steve scans his face and his pupils dilate. Bucky mentally pats himself on the back for the eyeliner. Steve takes himself in hand.
“You look gorgeous, honey,” he says firmly, his voice threaded through with gravel, and he leans in to give Bucky a quick kiss on the lips. Bucky’s head goes a little fizzy like he’s just had a glass of champagne, but he keeps it together enough to look Steve up and down.
He looks even better than he did on the flight, in a lightweight silk-wool suit in royal blue and a crisp bright white button up with the top three buttons open. Bucky very purposely doesn’t peek to see if any chest hair is showing because he’s having enough trouble holding it together as it is.
