Summary
Each human carries a fire in their heart, visible through their skin but not their clothes. Some say it is connected to one’s mental health, while others say it is connected to one’s happiness—but let one thing be clear: Despair douses this fire. And once it is extinguished, the person slips into a coma until the flames of the heart can be rekindled. Like Sleeping Beauty waking from her eternal slumber.
Dazai laughs.
“Nothing can revive a fire snuffed out.”

“The Commission has acquired a permanent quirk-erasing drug, through means which are unfortunately classified,” Mera said. “There is nothing that can change our present. We’re hoping, however, that with your cooperation there will be a world in which Touya does not grow up to help bring about the downfall of Japan.”
She didn’t want to cooperate. She was just a teacher, somebody entirely removed from the world of heroics and covert, middle-of-the-night operations. As she looked at each of the HPSC agents surrounding her, however, their eyes were cold and distant. This was just another mission to them. If she didn’t do this, they would send somebody back in her place and they would hurt her brother for crimes he hadn’t yet committed. “I’ll do it,” she said with certainty she did not feel.

All Fuyumi had ever wanted was the ability to change her family’s past, to take away the pain and grief that each of them had been forced to carry. WIth the assistance of the HPSC and a time travel quirk, she finally had the power to do something. She could ensure that some version of her family out there had the happy life she’d always dreamed of.
The only thing standing in her way was Touya’s quirk.
