That all changed, of course, the moment her face became the first face this face saw.
It took him a very long time to understand why. It never made sense to him, not until they bonded on Christmas Eve two years ago, why he had this unyielding desire to spend the holiday with her that day. Why he couldn’t bear the thought of letting her go like the others - the humans he would drop off and then pick back up - why he needed her by his side. Why he was downright ecstatic to open his cracker and wear that paper crown. Why her smile was the only thing he wanted to see.
He was in love.

“Mm...How about six? You seem very upset,” she said, pulling him into a long kiss. He couldn’t help but smile despite the weight on his hearts, not when she was this close and this warm and flirting with him in the way only Rose Tyler could, full of wit and callbacks galore.
God, how he loved her.

“You’re mine,” she said, slipping her hand into his and squeezing. “And I love you, but you need to hold Alice. My arms hurt.”
