Summary
The wolf and the lamb are in the pasture, the lamb feeding on the grass and the wolf lazing in the midday sun. The wolf bites the lamb, savouring the taste of blood as it retreats into the woods. The lamb comes back to the pasture the next day, trusting that the wolf wouldn't bite again. The wolf bites. The lamb does not run. It continues to graze, even as the wolf keeps biting, the blood tastes stale on its tongue. After finishing its meal, the lamb limps away, wounded. The next day it returns but does not feed. Instead, it asks the wolf to bite.
