When Beru is handed Luke Skywalker, she knows the man in travel-worn Jedi robes is telling her husband it would be better to start calling him Luke Lars.
Anakin Skywalker faced Darth Vader and he fell to him, he tells them. Vader must never find Anakin’s son.
Beru studies the baby in her arms. He is so small, eyes just as blue and downy hair just as blonde as the father he was born of.
Owen refuses Kenobi’s suggestion, though. He will raise the child as if he was his own, but on the legal forms he is his uncle, not his father. Owen has a grounded, linear, unmoving way of thinking. Like a boulder in the desert, too heavy for the winds to shift.
Beru agrees to keep the Skywalker name, but for a different reason than Owen. She doesn’t tell him that, though. Beru is like the wind, she flows around obstacles. It's how she survives.

Mitchell peels away from the wall and shrugs. “Oh, y’know. I was just in the area and thought I’d check out what this middle of nowhere was.” Tom scowls, but Mitchell ignores it and rolls his eyes. “Obviously I’m here looking for you, idiot.”

“Shit, Mav,” Bradley says through a laugh as he squats down, leaving his beer on the railing so he has both hands free to stick out. “You finally get me that dog I was always asking for?”
It’s another joke. He knows that Theo belongs to Penny and Amelia, but there has to be a reason Maverick is bringing this up.
“You caught me,” Maverick deadpans. Bradley can see Penny elbow him out of the corner of his eye, but he doesn’t bother looking up, too engrossed in the happy pants Theo is letting out as Bradley switches to scratching under his chin. “You could say I did. Sort of.”
“Sort of, huh?”

“It’s 2024.”
Jake shook his head in confusion, the wider implications of that fact too large and horrifying for him to wrap his allegedly-broken brain around. He waited for Javy to laugh, to start bragging about successfully landing such a bad joke, before explaining what was really going on. Only, the laughter never came.
“It can’t be.”
“It is.”
Though Javy’s expression stayed sympathetic, something in it seemed to harden all of a sudden. Jake was left with the distinct impression that he hadn’t yet gotten to the worst part.
“And, um,” Javy took a breath, “Bradley’s your husband, Jake. You guys have been married nearly five years.”
or... Jake survives the mission, only to discover not all of his memories made the trip home with him
