23 isn’t an age Dazai wants to be.
First of all, he never imagined he’d ever even make it this far. He thought this about every age he turned, so this wasn’t new. This time, though, he’d been dreading this birthday since he was 18.
Because 23 was how old Odasaku was when he died. And Dazai didn’t want to be any older than he had been.
Why was it that he was going to get to live longer than Oda, anyway? Oda was good. He was a good person. It didn’t matter how many bad things he’d done. He wouldn’t kill anybody, and even as a mafioso, he was never a bad person.
Dazai wasn’t even a person at all. And if his life continued, he’d get to see a million different ages Oda hadn’t.
It wasn’t fair.
So he had to die. Before he got older than Oda did.
