He was irritated. Because after everything he'd been through, it was this that had him saying "this is the worst" all over again. It didn't seem as massive as all that; as horrible as being possessed, as… hypothetically scary as being tortured would be to anyone else.
If he was being a little more fair to himself, though, maybe "being psychologically assaulted by a Gengar that was seemingly trained to kill people by a woman who clearly intended to murder you" would seem pretty terrifying to most people. Not that he was most people.

Vox's demonic true form was a virus. A computer virus. So much for being a television-head. Of course, Vox had upgraded past mere television decades ago, but this? This was... Actually... Something Velvette could use. "They hacked you," she whispered. "They announced to everyone that they hacked you! Heaven tried to start a broadcast through your channels." Yes, yes, the Vees could salvage this. "And then you got a virus!" She laughed. "They took control!"
"It was me," Vox muttered. "All me, my fault. Parasite."
Or: Velvette is trying to figure out how to salvage the situation to keep the Vees in power. Valentino doesn’t know how to handle the public scrutiny that Velvette is talking about; he just wants the Vees’ relationship to go back to normal. Meanwhile Vox just wishes they had let him die.

Summary
RAM is a canon divergent AU that takes the theory that Niffty is a former Overlord who Alastor drove insane and applies that scenario to Vox. After being tortured into insanity live on the air by Alastor, Vox is left in a state of perpetual channel surfing, his attention span severely degraded, his short-term memory volatile, and all memory of his life after his friendship with Alastor ended erased. Velvette and Valentino do their best to take care of him for the next seven years until Alastor returns and whisks Vox away to join him at The Hazbin Hotel.

In the end, it’s his damned curiosity that gets him.
When an assistant barges into Vox's office and interrupts his weekly break, curiosity is what stops him from smiting the kid. When he’s told there’s “something you need to see”, curiosity is what keeps him from dismissing it completely. When he finds himself reading an email from none other than Princess Charlotte Morningstar herself, regarding her stupid redemption hotel, curiosity is what makes him not only read it, but respond.
And when the day comes for the proprietors of the Hazbin Hotel to meet with a VoxTek representative face-to-face, curiosity is what leads to the fucking CEO arriving at their door to see the place for himself.
