Although Eight was not entirely sober, the moment he reached down to give her aid, she had never felt more coherent. It was incredibly out of character for Five, and even though she was out of it, she would never forget it. She couldn't forget it, it was too special to her. She didn't want the bittersweetness of it all to end so soon. When he stood up to leave, placing her book down on her nightstand, she began to reach for him desperately.
"Stay." She spoke with a harsh rasp to her voice, shaking her head over how awful she sounded. She could only imagine how awful she looked.
Against his better judgment, Five silently listened to her request.
He stayed.

Five leaned forward, ignoring the girl next to him. She seemed like an idiot. Not only that, an idiot he didn't have time for. "Lose the crazy lady and her kid and come with me. We have important business."
The girl scoffed, turning to face the boy next to her. He had uttered a collective of fifteen words within the span of her being awake, and she already formed an opinion about him. She wanted to rip his eyeballs out.
"What important business? First day of middle school, champ?"
Five turned to look at her, sending a snarky look her way. She didn't seem like an idiot anymore. She was an idiot. Before Five could open his mouth to say something again, Diego interrupted.
"I am not going anywhere with you." Drawing Five back to the original conversation, Diego made sure he heard him loud and clear.
Five looked out the window as he clenched his jaw, seeing a police officer walking down the sidewalk. He let out a small scoff, finding his loophole to use against his brother.
"Okay, fine." He turned to the window, leaning over the girl who was next to him to stick his head out the window. "Officer!"
