Betrayed by General Pepper in a surprise military coup, Fox McCloud forges an alliance with his rival, Wolf O'Donnell. After an unexpected bond is formed, Wolf is captured and turned into the ultimate psychic weapon for the regime. Fox's only path to stop Pepper and save Lylat is to descend into the mind of Wolf for a battle to save his soul.
[2025 REBOOT! This was the first Fox/Wolf fanfiction written in 2003. Now, 22 years later, I have returned to give this crazy ol' swashbuckling book the rewrite and polish it deserves. Enjoy!]

Summary
Oh, how we relish in avoidance. It's easy, to just forget discomfort and block your mind from going back into thoughts that only serve anxieties and fears rather than growth and perseverance. It's fickle, how one needs such discomfort to survive, while survival itself would be much easier without it.
So, why can't survival just happen without the frustrating need for anxiety? A psychological catch-22 that makes no sense, but somehow envelops Wolf all the same. In reality, avoidance is way easier than assertion. Who the hell wouldn't choose the former? It was the path of least resistance, the one he's always taken.
Maybe there's comfort in that, the fact that he can still run from mistakes as a fugitive. Maybe being on the run from the Cornerian government was the best way to never face his actions ever again. However, life always catches up with us, doesn't it? A life free from consequence is hardly one at all, and karmic law will always apply to anyone and everyone.
Just how long can he cheat the game of life? How fast can he keep running away, and how thin has his tenacity worn? on the icy deserts of Fichina, answers will come- whether by delusion or by personal justice

Summary
The air was cold, and the wind blew it right through his fur, through the layers he had put on before coming outside. He thought that Cape Claw would be warm year round, but as winter drew to it's midway point on Sauria the waters started to turn icy, biting cold, the wind off them hitting the cliff he built the shack on full force, and colder even then the water below.
Fox sighed, his breath coming out in a puff, mist in the cold air, blending into his view of the sky, a dark overcast day, about to bring the rain and ice back to the ground.
He should really go inside the hut, where the fire was still smoldering from when he'd put it on that morning. But he sat on the edge of the cliff looking out over the water.
He was too close to the edge, and he knew that.

Summary
Seventy five years after the Lylat Wars, and everything's changed. How predictable. And if Fox's granddaughter can't get her head put on right, there won't be enough of a Lylat System left to fly in. Good luck, Starfox.
