    Someone nice to go out with, that’s all Steve wants. Or at least, that’s what he thought he wanted. After dozens of failed dates he isn’t so sure anymore. Luckily, work provides the perfect distraction from Steve’s uninspiring love life. SHIELD and the SSR are joining forces in a historic union for the sole purpose of bringing Hydra down for good. Steve is paired with the SSR’s top agent, the Winter Soldier, to lead the charge and the last word he would ever use to describe his nameless, faceless partner is “nice.”

    Not even wine is helping this night, which is particularly dreadful because everyone has had at least three glasses so far to deal with the whole situation and yet Bucky still largely and distantly feels like dying. This is fine, probably. He hopes that Steve won’t break up with him because of the sheer levels of awkwardness radiating from one family dinner. The first family dinner. Of multiple.

    God, Steve’s going to break up with him, isn’t he? Bucky can’t even blame him at this point. Bucky wants to break up with himself, if at all possible.

    (or—Bucky Barnes has to bring his Democratic Socialist boyfriend home to his rich, Republican parents, survive multiple awkward family dinners, drink an exceptional amount of boozy eggnog, and try not to scream. Not necessarily in that order. Well, maybe a little bit in that order.)

    Okay, so the real problem is that you shouldn’t fuck your arch-rival, political enemy, and the person you loathe the most in the world where you work. Or like, at least, you shouldn’t keep doing that.

    But okay, the thing that Descartes or whoever didn’t know was that Steve really tries, but Bucky Barnes has a mouth that should probably constitute an eighth sin or something.
