Dustin groans like he’s in pain when Steve tells him as much. He bends over Eddie, clutching at his jacket with enough force to turn his knuckles white, and shakes his head as if in denial.
“We can’t—” Steve says again, reaching down to place a hand on Dustin’s back, feeling him tremble. “Dustin. We can’t take him with us.”
In which Dustin (and Steve) deal with some complicated feelings following Eddie's death.

Max stared at nothing and didn’t move. She gripped her walkie-talkie like it was her only anchor to the world, which it kind of was. She wasn’t sure how long she’d been sitting here in the closet she used to use to hide, thoughts creeping into her head and preparing to strangle her.
She clicked the button on her walkie-talkie. She couldn’t get her voice to rise above a whisper. “Steve, can you come get me?”
