Summary
The young woman gapes at her, her sky blue eyes like giant saucers. The dark material of her Starfleet uniform makes her pale skin appear almost porcelain. With her long, rose-gold colored hair pulled back into a neat ponytail and freckles dusting her nose and cheekbones she looks like a doll, Kathryn thinks. The observation leaves a bitter taste in her mouth.
“Who are you?” she asks, even though the knot in her stomach tells her she already knows the answer. Still, she refuses to believe it until she hears it.
The other woman blinks irritated, then squares her shoulders and meets Kathryn’s gaze without flinching.
“Cadet Kathryn Janeway, ma’am”
