Summary
A sudden, timid knock at her door tore her thoughts away from her slight internal panic.
“C-come in,” Mira quickly stood from her chair, fixing her shirt as she rose, and cleared her throat.
The door swung open slowly. Slow enough that Mira thought someone had somehow put a slow motion filter on her life. As it moved inch by inch, Mira’s nose was assaulted by the singular most mouth-watering scent she’d smelt in years…or ever.
Rain lilies and jasmine permeated Mira’s office, powerful enough that she found herself gripping the edge of her desk to desperately try and grasp the already taunt wire of control that somehow was slowly slipping through her fingers. Rumi’s scent was sweet and wrapped around Mira in an unknowing vice that threatened to bring her to her knees.
An omega.

Summary
“Do you know the hat rule, Rumi?”
An eyebrow arched high, “The hat rule?”
“The hat rule,” Zoey confirmed. There was a dramatic pause and Rumi was just about ready to whip out her phone and look it up herself before Zoey continued. “The hat rule used to just mean basic etiquette for wearing a stetson but now it basically means ‘if you wear a cowboy hat, you have to ride the cowboy. In your case, the cowgirl.”
Rumi blinked slowly, her brain not fully connecting or short-circuiting. She wasn’t sure which one, “I’m sorry…what?”
Zoey rolled her eyes and laughed.
“It means Mira just told every person in this arena to back the fuck off because you’re hers.”

Summary
“I’d like to thank all of you for coming today. I’m Mira Kang. You can call me chef while in class,” A slightly deep, soothing voice sounded from the back of the room. Rumi began chewing like a woman on a mission, hoping to finish off the last few pearls that swished around in her mouth as she felt the chef pass behind her. “We’re going to be starting off simple today. First, I’ll teach you how to properly prepare your ingredients for bibimbap and then we’ll move on to making the rice and we’ll go from there.”
Rumi glanced around as a few of the older women began whispering amongst each other and looking towards the main station where the chef was most likely now standing. Still chewing on her last tapioca pearl, Rumi’s eyes wandered over towards the chef wondering just what caught the interest of the women.
Pink hair.
A harsh, hacking cough rattled Rumi’s chest as she inhaled her half chewed pearl. Just at the front of the class was the same woman that she’d smashed her face against glass to see for just a moment longer. The same smooth skin and button down shirt. The same brown eyes –now looking at Rumi.
She needed to get out of this class before she made a fool of herself even more.

Summary
The crown felt heavy, yet so rightfully placed as Mira lowered it carefully onto her head.
“Gwi-Ma may sit on your throne. He may walk through the halls of your home like he built them himself. He may squander your family’s riches and run the kingdom into ruins,” Mira lifted Rumi’s head by her chin, making her hold it high like the princess she was, that she was born to be. “But he will never take this crown from your head. He will not take the love and support that your people so openly give to you. He will not tarnish your name…not as long as I am here to defend it, to defend you. Not when I am here to teach you how to fight for your kingdom and to bring him to his knees in front of the true heir to that throne.”

Summary
“What are you supposed to be?”
A startled scream jumped from her throat, pink hair frizzing up almost like a scared cat, as a little girl with a long braid suddenly appeared next to her. She stumbled away from her, her feet catching over themselves and sending her butt skidding across the hardwood flooring.
“W-where did you come from?” Her eyes trailed over the girl’s form. She glowed purple, the same color of the sword, and she was…see through? “Who are you? What a-are you? Why can I see through you?”
The little girl’s face became a little crestfallen as her hands wrung around her simple cotton shirt.
“I’m…the only thing I know is my name,” She whispered brokenly.

Summary
“I’m serious. No more cooking for you. Ever.” Rumi huffed out, already thinking of delivery places that would still be open.
“You never let me have my rom-com moments!” Zoey leaned her head back with a dramatic sigh.
“You almost burned down our apartment!” Rumi sent her a baffled glare as she marched towards their now-ashy kitchen.
“And now you have a crush. You’re welcome.”__________
The last thing Detective Ryu Rumi needed after a long day at work was to find Zoey—best friend since college and paramedic extrordinaire—frantically trying to quell the flaming mess that once was their tiny apartment's stove. What she needed even less was said friend proceeding to call her out for her horribly-timed crush on the responding Fire Lieutenant. Oh, and there’s an arsonist on the loose, too.
Lucky her.

But here and now, her infatuation and endless ire with the woman next to her would only widen, growing to swallow her whole. Her mother seals their fate with a stern, decided gaze. Her mother clears her throat, her cup of tea already half drank in front of her before she speaks.
