Summary
Tommy really needs to stop going along with Dream's ideas.
The problem, truthfully, is that Dream just has far too many ideas, more than any normal person should be capable of having in the same time period, and he's able to throw out so many at once that it makes Tommy's head spin. They rush past him like the rapids of a river he's been suddenly thrown in, and he desperately throws out his hands to catch anything he possibly can to steady himself. Sometimes, that's something he's not actually sure he wants to do, but Dream usually does his best to make it fun anyway so that it's all fine in the end.
Sometimes, he agrees to have sex with Dream in Pandora's Vault.

Summary
"I knew a girl who called herself Dolores," Violetta told the presently-unnamed girl once, brushing mascara over her lashes—her eyes were closed, since she couldn't stop flinching when the wand got too close. "She worked at my old job. Always thought it sounded way too old-fashioned. People called her Dolly anyway, or Lola. But it means 'suffering'. Always thought there was something poetic about that: about a whore named 'suffering' and men calling her a doll. Maybe just something sad."
Quackity plans to force Dream to dress like a woman in a live broadcast to the whole server, enlisting the help of the dancers he employs to do it. The only problem? Dream takes to it much more happily than he ever expected.
Alt title: "a girl named suffering".

Summary
"Aw, come on, Tommy," Dream says. "If we really—if you really wanted to do what you should be doing, you'd walk away from this whole server and never see me again. Is that what you want? No, no—just like you for me, I'm way too fun for you to ever leave me alone—"
"Fucker."
"—you know I'm right. Why else would you come to Logstedshire again, if not to find me? Why did you go to the prison in the first place?" Unlike Dream's face, his voice is unreadable. All Tommy knows is the way the scared animal in his chest is crawling up his throat, scratching him bloody as it struggles like a crab in a bucket. He can't speak. "Why did you let me come here? You know how this ends. You always do, and yet you always try to—to make me the villain, as if you don't fucking love it."
Dream and Tommy shared some moments in Pandora that neither of them are proud of. That doesn't mean they won't do it again.

Summary
Anger’s connection with hatred is surely very complicated, and I don’t understand it at all, but again fear seems to be involved. If you aren’t afraid of someone or something threatening or unpleasant, you can as a rule despise it, ignore it, or even forget it. If you fear it, you have to hate it. I guess hatred uses anger as fuel. I don’t know. I don’t really like going to this place.
Ursula K. LeGuin, 89b. About Anger
Given both the motive and the opportunity to cause harm, Wilbur decides he's willing to get much more violent than anybody expected in his pursuit of balancing the scales for his younger brother-figure. Tommy's never been all that good at depriving himself either.

Summary
...The simulacrum is never that which conceals the truth—it is the truth which conceals that there is none. The simulacrum is true.
Simulacra and Simulation, Jean Baudrillard
In the aftermath of Dream's escape from prison, he and Tommy reconnect and rebuild a whirlwind sexual relationship that breaks them both as much as it saves them.

To deserve, to earn—what does that even mean? Worse still: who gets to decide?
—
Tommy is trapped in Dream's cell with him. Dream is pretty convinced he knows exactly what he deserves, and he convinces Tommy, in turn, to give it to him, forcing Tommy to discover something about himself that makes him writhe with guilt.

Summary
All Dream can hope is that this will be over soon. So can drag his heavy, injured body into the lava and melt into atoms. Rinse himself of the blood and fear, and be done with it.
"Yup. That's the point." Quackity smirks. "Finally, I thought you'd never shut up." Dream has the audacity to take that as a challenge, but not before Quackity knocks the air out of him again. It forces out a downright pitiful noise. "But now you're all nice and quiet, huh?"
Dream trembles, whimpers. Feels the words rocket through his body and twist into his guts. It's… not pain.
Oh.
That's. He wasn't expecting that.

Summary
As an eight year old Robin, Dick had traversed the tightrope of good and evil effortlessly, understanding how to navigate the world's morality in the way that only a child could. He knew right, he knew wrong and he knew how to differentiate between the two. As an adult, Dick didn’t have that certainty, and he no longer ran, skipped and cartwheeled over that tightrope. Instead, he crawled in a way that felt humiliating, even when no one else knew how much he was struggling to stand.
It's been six months since Nightwing dragged himself from the burning warehouse he'd been held captive in; bloodied, broken and with the fury of an avenging phoenix. And Dick Grayson has spent that time painstakingly putting his persona back together in a way that belies the total destruction wreaked over his mind and body.
Sure, the lie isn't as perfect as he wishes it was. But none of that matters. Not really, anyway. Because as the curtains open on the performance of Dick Grayson's lifetime, he knows one bitter truth; this is his path, and he has to walk it alone.

Summary
“You’re not gonna get out of this unscathed," Jason said desperately. "You know that, right? This mission is gonna fuck you up, Dick.”
Yeah, I know, Jay, Dick thought. “I'm gonna be fine," he said instead. "I'm gonna be totally okay."
Moan2 is many things all at once; Gotham's hottest new party drug, an awful scourge that Dick and his family can't seem to stem, and an unassuming pill that strips its user of all free will and autonomy. Dick knows intimately just how dangerous this pill is, but it doesn't matter how much he tries or how hard he works, he just can't solve this case.
As more users become hooked, more dealers turn up dead and more people disappear from clubs never to be seen again, Dick feels his desperation grow. He'll do anything to solve this case. He'll give everything to save all of those people. He'll give it all.
