Emma held her breath as she watched Regina walk toward her, she could barely process what was happening when Regina reached out, her fingers cool against her flushed cheeks that only seemed to get hotter at the feeling of Regina’s tender touch against her skin and the almost painfully caring expression on her face.
“There we go,” Regina’s voice was an affectionate whisper, the sound enough to make Emma long for something more than this little friendship they’d built these last few months.
