Khada Jhin was human. Everyone had their tells, and Jhin had many.
“It flatters me to see you care,” he whispered, his eyes locked onto yours. “Truly, it does. Though… by now, you should understand that I know what is best for myself, mm?”
Jhin inched closer, and your nerves stood on end. Even in the heat, you felt the telltale sign of goosebumps down your neck. You felt his breath tickle your ear, and, subconsciously, you turned to lean against the dresser. Without a word, Jhin followed, placing a hand on the wood to secure you in place. His leg settled between yours, resting his knee on one of the drawers left ajar.
“You are a very talented performer, darling.”
