Caitlyn fiddled with her headset, having finally found the green button on the side and hastily letting out a rather breathless reply. “Um, yes. Hello? This is Houston. I copy.”
There was a long pause in which Caitlyn sat twiddling her thumbs, anxiety pushing the frantic pulse of her heartbeat through her eardrums. Was that wrong? Did she already fuck up? She took a steady deep breath, finger hovering over the talk button until the familiar voice of the astronaut came through her headset once more.
“Damn, Houston. I didn’t expect you to sound so sexy.”

Cassandra slammed her hand down on the table, next to it an envelope colored a stark baby blue and gray. The colors of the fashion school she had secretly applied to months ago.
“Care to explain this?” She picked up the unopened envelope and squinted at the bold writing on the front. “Because last I checked, there’s no medical school named ‘Arcane: School of Fashion and Design’ in all of London.” Her mother raised and eyebrow, standing up straight next to her father, who looked at Caitlyn apologetically.
But what was she supposed to say? That the three months they stayed in the states changed her life forever? That there’s a hot, incredibly kind girl with pink hair and a cute laugh waiting for her to come back to her home so they could be happy and gay together? Absolutely not. Caitlyn thinks she would drop dead before she even spoke of her personal affairs in front of her parents like that. Embarrassing.

Caitlyn stopped in her tracks, her lips pressing into a thin line as she locked eyes with Vi. "As if I'd ever need help from you. I'm just here to discuss field scheduling with Greyson, not to indulge your ego, Lanes."
Vi leaned back against the padded wall, her arms crossed, tendons flexing in her forearms, exuding effortless swagger. "Sure. You just happened to time it perfectly when I'm practicing. Don't worry, Cupcake. I'll give you my autograph after this."
Caitlyn scoffed, though the faintest blush crept onto her cheeks, "Your delusions never cease to amaze me."
"Neither do your legs, Kiramman," Vi shot back, throwing Caitlyn a wink and a teasing grin, "Seriously, it's like they're sculpted. Make it's hard to focus, y'know?"
