"That, Tommy, is my sunrise."
The first thing his now-undead brother does as soon as his revival is to point at the golden sun and declare it his.
Tommy isn't sure how he feels about his brother, the pale man sitting on the ground beside him and humming softly to himself. Wilbur is so thin and sharp, hollow cheekbones prominent under the dark circles hanging from his eyes. He looks so awkward as if he doesn't belong there - as if he isn't supposed to be alive and breathing - with every movement jerky and tense like a tangled marionette hanging from tattered threads.

Behind the two undead brothers, the glowing red sun rises higher up the pink sky, cerise light drowning dark gold in a tidal wave of brightness. L'manberg's crater shimmers like a disk, a round hole reflecting fragments of colours and ruins enlightened by the sun.
Even in its stained glory, the abandoned country of L'manberg is still a masterpiece, ragged-edged beauty unhidden by countless cracked floors and burnt forests.
Tommy turns his back on the deadly masterpiece and walks away.
'It was never meant to be.'

Wilbur never expected death to be like this.
When he thought of death, it was peaceful, quiet and soothing to his battered mind. It was a beautiful end to his symphony, a closure to finish off the untied ends cleanly. Wilbur knew it would be bloody and painful, but he imagined the aftermath to be something silent and calm.
But he wasn't informed that his hell would be a train station.

The loud, echoing screeches of the passing trains hurt, and Wilbur begs at the void to take him with them, to pull him into a hug of blissful release.
But his void is silent, even as they pull apart Wilbur fibre by fibre, tearing at the loose ends and setting fire to his nerves.
So Wilbur screams.
And screams.

Curiosity wins out and she opens the envelope with a flick of a knife she likes to keep close by. A photograph falls out, with a note scribbled on the back. Her stomach constricts when she recognizes the bruised and bloody person in it.
But she also knows the bed the man is chained to. All too well.--
Someone is out to get Ada. And they also know who'd be the perfect bait.

Not the mutated creature that Leon had become. But the agent was still in there despite it all, scared and cornered and trapped. All Chris wanted to do was get him better. All he wanted was for Leon to be okay.

They stare at each other. Chris feels his heart break and reform in his chest.
He's lying there, displaced in time, bleeding with an infected gunshot wound, and he's asking after Claire.
It's so Leon that it hurts.
