“Fusion is supposed to be beautiful, Izuku," Mum says. "You’ll make more friends, and fuse with them, and feel how much they love you. I promise."
Izuku thinks about the wave of hatred-disgust-fear that rose up when Kacchan realised the extent of their fusion, and buries his wet face in his mum’s shoulder.
He doesn’t want to fuse with anyone ever again.
(AU where fusion isn't just a battle strategy; it's a form of affection and trust between loved ones. Izuku always thought fusion was for other people. Not for him. Not for quirkless Deku.
And then he meets All Might.)

Summary
When people ask to see his quirk, Izuku throws out an arm and the invisible person floats objects into the air for him. When Kacchan comes near, the invisible person tickles his arm or blows air into his ear, warning him away.
The invisible person feels like his partner, a co-conspirator in this secret. A protector.
Izuku might not have a quirk, but he does have a friend.
Or: when a passing ghost protects Izuku from a group of bullies, everyone thinks Izuku's quirk has finally manifested. Telekinesis, just like Inko.
