It’s not really a cell, more of a makeshift cage. His name is Anakin Skywalker, but here, that means nothing. Here, names mean nothing.
All around him, he can hear coughing and retching and groaning as other children in other cells fall sick and suffer, then fall silent.
Their bodies get dragged out and added to a pile in the corner.
He watches the pile grow.

This is technically part of my other series, Crown Of Lazarus. You don't really need to have read that to understand what's going on here, since this story takes place before that one. All you need to know is that Anakin Skywalker can die and come back again.
Crown Of Lazarus briefly touches upon Anakin's brush with childhood illness, so I figured I'd expand upon that more for Angstpril.

I had a limited number of my humans to choose from for this. The only ones of my humans available in this particular instance were Mensah, Arada, and Gurathin. Of the options, I selected the one who would never, ever want to talk to me about it later.
I enabled my "act like a human" code in full as I descended on Gurathin. The only warning I gave him was an abrupt Look natural in our private feed before I -- ugh -- put my arm very suddenly around his shoulders.
