He couldn’t do this. He just… He couldn’t. It was too much, all of it was too much.
While Tim knew that he should try a different position, maybe kneeling by the bed again to let gravity help, but the mere thought of trying to move at all as he was being ripped apart from the inside was too overwhelming.
All Tim could do was sob as another contraction crashed into him. He couldn’t even try to push, his strength all but evaporated, but the pain didn’t give him any reprieve.
It had already been hours, long hours of building agony, hours where he had trembled and he had gasped and he had outright writhed as the baby refused to descend any further. Tim had tried bracing against the bed, he’d tried standing up outright and even pacing before his legs had started shaking too much to hold his weight.
While it had been hours since feeling the urge to push, it had been longer still since those first cramps had become unmistakably contractions.

His voice became frantic, his eyes wild and filled with pain.
“As soon as I had the means, I lost my inhibitions. I lost the ability to doubt my own actions. That is dangerous, Jayce! It is not the behavior of a scientist—it is that of a zealot! I had been dying, desperate. So blinded by fear of the unknown that I disposed of caution. The arcane did not implant these things in me. It merely encouraged what was already painfully present!”
“Isn’t that enough?” Jayce answered emphatically, desperately, lunging forward despite his better judgement and catching Viktor’s arms. He tried to dodge him again, but he was frankly too weak and too fresh from a coma to fight back. Jayce held him still and leaned into his face until he was forced to meet his eyes. “You have flaws, Viktor! Despite all of your efforts, you’re human! "
Jayce and Viktor survive. The world picks up the pieces. There is a balance to be found between mercy and recompense, but Jayce will fight tooth and nail to tip those scales for the man he loves.
OR
My post-canon fluffy angsty fix-it wherein Viktor is put on trial and Jayce tries not to burn the whole city down to save him.

But, annoyingly, Megatronus’s smile only widened.
"I'm honoured that mechs even of your class have heard of me, Great Thirteen."
Orion picked up on the cynical tone beneath the charm he used when calling him that, as if it was his fault for being born into fortune, and he didn't appreciate it.
"My name's Orion."
Megatronus paused, his smile softening into something genuine, to Orion's confusion. "Ah, my apologies, Orion." He said, testing the name on his glossa, "I didn't mean to offend you, they only refer to you as Thirteen in the news- you see."
