The last time they were in Texas at all had been last year, but Richardson was nowhere near close enough to excuse a detour of that size.

    Dean had thought about it, though. He’d thought about it nearly as many times as he considered throwing away the business card worn soft and pliant by his fingers, whose name and number burned a hole in his wallet.
