Cesare opens his eyes, unclenches his fists, and in the center of his chest where Caligari’s icy grip has held him for a thousand long, frozen years, he does not feel the cold. Instead, he feels a sharp, tightening pain, like a belt around his lungs—lungs?—shrinking, constricting his chest.
He sits up with a jolt, opens his mouth, and with an instinct that has been long dead in him, tries to take in a breath.

He turned to look at Conrad across the table, who didn't say anything. But he hoped Conrad would pick up on his mental signals and just let Allen have this one.
“If you like carving wood so much, boss, I got some tools in my garage somewhere. ‘Could save you from using up kitchen knives.”
Cesare went silent at the mention of wood carving.
“Let me grab my stuff.” He finally says, stepping back. “After the dinner rush!”
Fuck. Why didn't he think of buying carving tools?After a bit of trial and error, Cesare and Allen start living together and Allen feels like it's a dream come true. That is, until he checks on Cesare one night and, instead of the older man he's used to seeing, he finds a young, Venetian Cesare sleeping where the old one used to be.

Summary
With Cesare and Steve gone, the food truck employees are at a loss on how to get their bosses home. Unfortunately for them, they are up against a being who is not willing to let that happen.
Of course, it sure would be easier if Cesare could be convinced people actually wanted him around.
