Cross knows he fucked up getting seen, but in his defense he did not know how powerful mages could be. It was only supposed to be information gathering, how could he have messed up so bad? He doesn’t want the others to know how horrible he is, how weak.
It’s better to hide his failures so they don’t hate him, he deserves this pain.
