Summary
The protagonist is doing his best to simply come out of the apocalypse alive, simultaneously avoiding people as much as possible. Everything is going more or less okay because, simply, he's alive, but he's confronted by his dead father's beliefs when an eccentric, foreign man shows up at his door.

Summary
After a month spent hidden away in his basement, the radio finally crackles to life with a single promise: it’s safe to come out. The visitors are gone. The sun is no longer dangerous.
Mikhail stands by and watches as his guests depart one by one, offering quiet thanks he doesn't feel he's earned. What did he ever really do for them? It was the apocalypse. He didn't have a choice.
A few, however, don’t leave.
He’s left behind with a woman who once lived under someone else’s cruelty, a teenager running from a life that never wanted them, and lastly...a foreigner whose words he can barely understand. A man who, for reasons he can’t fathom, looks at him as though he’s something greater than he is.

Summary
Enjin, in a moment of rage and weakness, slams his fist into the wall and very nearly crushes his choker. “Are you fucking serious?! Your brother died, and you’re–”
“He’s not dead,” Goka snaps, his frustration evident, “But Kyoka ‘n’ I are the only ones that believe it.”
Zanka went missing nearly two weeks ago on his way home from an interview with the newscaster Mymo. After intensive investigation, remnants of his choker, blood, and his treasured Lovely Assistaff emerge as the determining evidence of his death– of Zanka’s suicide.
However, there are those who know how the system works, how easily people slip through the cracks. There are those that refuse to believe that Zanka wanted to give up on himself, and there is one who is certain Zanka wouldn’t go down without a fight.

Summary
"GREAT! Just great! As if this could GET any better!" Zanka bites out, seething. Of course he's stuck here, injured, in a damp, dirty cell, and of course he's stuck here with fucking Jabber of all people.
Jabber whistles appreciatively, "Man, you're in a mood today. Wake up on the wrong side of the bed?" and cackles at his own joke. Zanka's gonna strangle him. He's gonna rip out those bars with his bare hands and use them to beat Jabber to death.
or
Zanka is taken by some people who want to study givers. Jabber is there too. This somehow makes everything both better and so much worse.

Summary
“How do you do it? Control it, make it do whatcha want, stop it from taking over you and control you, keep it from going all…bleh.”
“Bleh?”
“You know what I mean.”
He snickered, shaking his head, but the smile slipped from his lips as they settled into a neutral line. He leaned on his cane to look up at the sky.
“I don’t. I mean, not really. People think it’s this majestic, all knowing force, but it’s a lot more like a child, always watching, always learning. When it connects with us, it tunes into every fiber of our being. It doesn’t know anything at first, we shape it with our every thought, our every use, every action. We’re its compass, moral or otherwise. You know what they say, what goes around comes around, that’s very literal here. I just…learned that a lot sooner than others do. They take from the world, so it learns to take. I give of myself, and only myself, so it gives in return…"
He glanced down at his hands, examining them carefully as they glowed faintly in the moonlight.
"...at least, that’s what I tell myself. That’s what I hope is the truth.”
