The people Bruce had met did not seem bad. For all the terrifying skills displayed, Gotham's vigilantes behaved like (and this wasn't a topic Bruce was overly familiar with), well, like family.
Still, the sight of them, dressed in those suits and working so late at night, all while exchanging banter, sent a wave of disgust up his throat. Even when he tried to swallow it back, the feeling lingered, churning and swirling in his stomach each time he glanced at those symbols.
Nightwing's blue bird. Batgirl's yellow bat. Robin's logo. Even Red Hood's graffiti-painted red bat.
... Why?
Or
Absolute Batman lands in the Mainline universe and learns that maybe his mission doesn't need to be a lonely one.

Summary
When speaking with Graulus, Seth is told he already has dark energy on him from pulling the nail out of the Revenant's neck. Becoming a shadowcharmer completed the bond. In my opinion, this means he should be more powerful than the average shadowcharmer, yet we rarely get to see his powers (in contrast to Kendra using hers literally every single book).
On top of this, Agad tells Seth he has never seen a shadowcharmer so young before, though he has seen younger fairykind (I assume this is because of purity and young maidens and yada yada yada whatever this isn't about Kendra) so I think dark power that physically twists the owner is quite interesting.
If this sounds cool, read on.
(btw this takes place AFTER the battle of Zyzzx but before Dragonwatch (mainly because I hate Knox and Tess, and I've only finished rereading up until book 2).
