Summary
Wei Wuxian is the legendary immortal Yiling Laozu, even he doesn't remember how old he is, after the meditation he underwent for some reason, his memories of the past are vague and blurry, he doesn't remember anything special even if he concentrates hard. After returning to the mortal world, Wei Wuxian saves the cultivating clans from the threat of Wen Ruohan, after his destruction Wei Wuxian declares himself the new head of the Wen clan and the guardian of the remnants of the golden sun clan.
The clans are afraid of who he is and what it might mean for them for an immortal who doesn't follow their rules to get involved in the life of the clans. They decide to use the only chance they have, trying to influence the immortal, placing someone who obediently follows the rules by his side. The best, if not the only candidate is Omega from the Lan clan - Lan Wangji...

No one else ever really comes just to visit him; not that he minds at all that much. He likes the quiet and the routine of his life. He’s grateful, even, that he’s not like some other omegas his age – trailing more than a few alphas behind them. He doesn’t know how they stand it, really. All those heavy, overbearing scents surrounding them. It seems like it would be awful. And that wasn’t to say that some didn’t try to come around. He was the younger of the Twin Jades and that meant something to a lot of the people they knew, but it had been nearly a year or maybe more since the last alpha had tried to approach him and for that, he was grateful.

Wei Wuxian barely makes a sound when Jin Zixun’s sword goes through his chest. A tiny noise is punched out of him — half gasp, half sigh. Jin Zixun, wearing that smirk that Lan Wangji has always hated, moves to pull the sword out.
This won’t do; Lan Wangji knows enough about battlefield medicine to understand the principle of keeping the weapon in the wound until a medic arrives. So he does the only thing that occurs to him in the moment, letting the momentum of flight be the force behind the swing; he cuts off Jin Zixun’s hand.

He sounded… heartbroken. “He has been in a coma for some time, and the doctors do not believe he will last the night.”After his brother's core is destroyed—a fatal injury—Lan Huan seeks out Lan Zhan's soulmate. Wei Ying agrees to share his spiritual energy with this beautiful stranger over the course of several weeks in order to save his life.
