    Summary

I wrote this at like 3:00am based on a dream I had. So.
    .

Mike was touchy, it was just in his nature.

Maybe that's why, when Mike reached out, hands cupping his own, leaning in close, a murmur of “I miss you, Will. I miss us,” all Will did was squeeze back, the way he always had.

It started off the same as always, something unintentional that Will could brush off, accident touches that slowly grew into something friendly, platonic, normal. The occasional nudge of an elbow to his side, a long look and a hand reaching out to grip his shoulder. Simple. Friendly.

    But now?

Now Mike couldn't seem to be able to keep his hands off of him.

    It was driving Will crazy.

    Summary

“Does it need to be like ceramics last semester? Do I need to drop you off and pick you up at the door again like a fucking preschooler?” Will shakes his head as best as he can, a whimper escaping from his lips. Mike grips his jaw tighter. “Speak.”

“N-no, Mike.” Yes, actually, Will wants to say. He liked it when Mike did that last semester, walking him to and from class like Will’s big, scary guard dog. Sometimes, if Will was lucky, Mike would wait in the hallway during his class, clutching some mass market paperback, spine cracked and curled in on itself. Even big, scary guard dogs have owners, Will would think as Mike stayed put for him.

In which someone asks for Will’s number and it makes Mike murderously angry.

    Summary

Now that Will’s sitting and Mike’s the one that’s standing, he looks impossibly tall. Tall and lanky, and huge. He should sit back down, Will thinks, lay back down next to Will and stay in their own secluded little bubble.

“I really want to kiss you,” Mike says, and Will’s eyes snap back up to his so violently he thinks he hears his own neck crack with the force of it.

“Don’t,” Will croaks, before his brain has even processed the words. “Don’t say that.”

“Okay,” Mike says easily, still staring. And what the actual fuck is going on? Is Will hallucinating? Is the weed making him hallucinate? “So sausage and pepperoni?”

Will stares dumbly at him. “Um - yeah. Yes.”

“Cool,” Mike replies and then just turns around and leaves Will sitting dumbly in his own room.

    or

Mike and Will get high on Jonathan’s weed and Mike has an amazing idea.

    Summary

He thought he was moving on from the events in Hawkins just fine. He thought they all were. It seemed that way.

He moved to New York, away from Hawkins, from the memories, from Jane, from… everything. He didn’t want to cling to anything or anyone from that God-awful place, because he knew he wouldn’t be able to move on.

So he let it all go, save for a few phone calls home to Max or Lucas or Dustin. He stayed relatively quiet with Mike, only sending a letter or two until he completely cut himself off from him. He couldn’t deal with it- talking to Mike like everything was fine and normal. He still loved Mike, and in order to move on, he had to let go.

    He shouldn’t have.

Because little did he know, he was the last thing Mike was clinging onto.
