No matter what Lee did, he was always an extremist, from training to interacting with his friends Lee always gave 100% all the time. And with that Lee was also a very physical person, passing touches, frequent hugs, dragging someone along, which meant that if you were within a five foot radius of the taijutsu master he was probably holding onto you in some fashion regardless of who you are.
Well, that was true for all of Lee’s friends but one, Gaara. Lee rarely touches Gaara, and when he does it is either from necessity or out of excitement which is quickly corrected.
And Gaara hated it

Lee's love language is basically physical touch and Gaara notices that he's the only one left out of that affection. He's also touched starved and doesn't understand his own emotions.

Can I make it any more obvious?Lee's program ends up on Gaara's list, of all lists, to evaluate and maybe even be responsible for crushing just like he crushed Lee's real dream, many years ago now, at the 2003 Konoha Aggressive Inline Skating Invitational.

Gaara groaned, hoarse and gravely and wonderful and Lee was absolutely thrilled with the prospect of hearing that lovely sound again.
Focus!
It was a hard task when all of Lee's entrails clenched with the need to press further, his entire body vibrating with renewed energy and the need to worship every centimeter of that man.
