Eden had long used children for war, they were easy to train, and easier to indoctrinate when they were born and raised in a nursery. Eden was more than fine with the knowledge they were sending kids to die, after all, they all became soil?But what COI had laws to stop trials/convictions for minors? How could Eden get around that?
Simple: If your calendar years are half that of the COI, your 15-year-old becomes 30, and you have “righteous” anger aplenty to point right back at the COI.
If a few kids have to die to make ends meet? Well, It's just bigger than us.
(OR I wanted to write a fic where Simon is actually just a really fucking scared and traumatized child, because Mark you hurt me with that ending so name Simon will get hugs.)

Fiddling with one of her belts, Quinn frowns. “Other people, right? That’s kind of the point of the Carer Van, helping out the people of the Gladlands how we can?”
“You know that you can help people other ways,” Poppy says, but Quinn’s already shaking her head.
“Yeah, but with this, it’s- if I tell people about it, I can prove that no matter what happens, it can’t keep you down, you know? Sure, you might be the only person to resort to cannibalism, and you might eat the man that you love even after he begged you not to, but that doesn’t mean it’s over for you!” Quinn knows that her eyes have gone wide, nails digging into her biceps where she holds onto her own arms to keep her steady, and she can’t bring herself to look at Poppy and see whatever expression she might have as she watches. “It’s hopeful, right?”
There’s a pause, and all Quinn can hear is how loud her breathing’s gotten. “Darling, I think you’re just trying to convince yourself.”

Hugi hasn’t been dead nearly as long as they were alive.
And not that they’re dead now, exactly, because the act of having died doesn’t necessarily mean that you’re still dead—dead is a present state of the body, rather than a thing that happened in the past, which is to say the event of death, and usually those two do go hand in hand but not always, as proven by Hugi’s case.
Anyway. In the time since her death, time in which she is not exactly dead but perhaps something not quite alive, Hugi has come to realize that her pre-death interest in death was not exactly the norm.

The footsteps stop. A moment of silence, and then—“Why isn’t he out yet?”
OR
Simon gets the data. True her word, Ava pulls him out. It’s not necessarily over after that.

Trinity enjoyed the roof of PTMC. It was quiet, away from everything, a place you could stand and think. After a rough shift, she goes up there to clear her head before going home, and finds out she's not the only one that had that thought. Someone else is up there, on the wrong side of the railing, and she has a decision to make.
Or; Santos finds Langdon on the roof, too close to the edge for comfort. He talks and reveals, she listens and reflects, and hopefully, things might end up a little better than before.

Everyone's entitled to their secrets and Four is far from the exception. Besides, it's not like this particular secret (it's not even really a secret, more of an omission that he never had reason to mention) is ever going to be relevant, right?
Except. One of his travelling companions on this new adventure turns out to have a rather familiar ability.
OR: Four, before he was Four, learned much of his swordsmanship skills (beyond the basics) on the fly during his first quest. With time of the essence, some dubiously moral corners were cut in order for him to learn those skills quickly. A certain melody from one of his new brothers-by-soul reminds him of that.
OR: I don't think enough people are talking about the fact that in Minish Cap, Link learns the spin attack, dash attack, etc. by getting possessed, even if it is momentarily. I have Thoughts on this.
