When Wednesday returns to Nevermore after last year's incidents, something's different. Both in the hallowed halls and in herself. Something is going on. Something sick. Something vile. And this time, the answer can't be investigated in a case. She can't mull over suspects or inspect crime scenes. No, this time, she is the conundrum. After exhausting her psychic ability to black tears, prophetic trances plague her next. Her whole body goes numb, eyes roll back to only the whites, and speaks. It's in a deep voice, strangely unlike her own. And everything she spouts is cryptic nonsensical verse, clearly nothing...until its something.
As these trances become more and more common, she weakens greatly. The white leaves her skin, fading to a pasty grey. Her eyes lose their darkness, and her bones their strength.
