    You know this story.
    An amateur sorcerer attempts to ensnare Death but gets her brother instead due to the meddling of another sibling.
    Dream spends a century trapped in a glass cage in a cellar.
    His raven is murdered in front of him.
    And the only reason he escapes is because of a wheel smearing gold paint across the floor, allowing Dream to enact his revenge.
    All of that happens, but when he returns to The Dreaming, Lucienne notices right away that while her lord had returned, he was not the same being who had left to pursue a rogue nightmare.
