"Gabriel Agreste was Monarch."
That's what Ladybug had said.
"Gabriel Agreste was Monarch."
His father. His father was Hawkmoth. Shadow-moth. Scarlett-moth. Monarch.
His father, who had just sacrificed himself and was hailed as the hero of Monarch's defeat, was the very person everyone believed he defeated.
He thought he would be okay knowing who Monarch was. He thought he would be able to comfort Ladybug who seemed to be haunted by the knowledge of who their enemy was.
Knowing it was his father, he couldn't even find it within him to comfort himself. Everything he thought was good with the world, everything he had thought of his father after he had left the world, it all felt like a lie.
Even Adrien himself was a lie.
