Tears sprung to her eyes for the umpteenth time as she shakily breathed through the residual pain. Frustration gripped her chest once again.
God, she wouldn't even be in this mess, waking up from a drug-induced stupor if it hadn't been for her fucking boss. She couldn't do it anymore. Couldn't look him in the eyes and follow orders. If she got out of this place alive - out of the BAU alive - then she'd give him a piece of her mind. Finally tell him how much of a headache he was. Finally tell him how much she despised the way he pitied her with that stupid little frown on his face. She would not let him get out of it easy, no. She was going to force him to listen. Grab his annoying face, tell him just how she feels, and make sure he hears her.
Set after Season 7. Before she leaves the BAU. It follows the same general timeline as the show, but liberties were taken with the timing and details.

Summary
If Emily Prentiss knew one thing, it was how to compartmentalize. She knew to rely on herself and not let anyone see the simmering pain beneath. Yet, when a killer has a MO too close to Emily's secret about that night in the warehouse, she slowly starts to unravel at the seams.
